Softgel Capsules

A softgel capsule is a solid capsule (outer shell) surrounding a liquid or semi-solid center (inner fill). It is an oral dosage form for medicine, similar to a standard capsule. Softgel shells are made from a combination of gelatin (bovine or fish), water, an opacifier, and a plasticizer such as glycerin. They come in a variety of sizes and colors, with fill weights ranging from 250 mg to 1200 mg.
