Incorporated August 1997 as a trading company, Halagel (M) Sdn Bhd was the sole importer and distributor of Halal Empty Hard Gelatin Capsule and Halal Food and Pharmaceutical grade bovine gelatin. Today, Halagel® continues to distribute the best quality edible and pharmaceutical grades gelatin that meets the highest international standards and specifications to be a leading supplier and distributor for food for manufactures in Malaysia. Nowadays, Halagel® has broadened its business activities from purely trading to manufacturing and distributing an entire range of Halal products under the Halagel® brand.
On top of that with its recognized GMP facility, Halagel® also undertakes contract manufacturing for Softgel products, Toothpastes, Rock Salt and Cosmetics for private labels. Recently Halagel® have been successfully accredited as Certified ISO company for ISO 9001 : 2015 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 45001 : 2018 (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems), ISO 14001 : 2015 (Environmental Management Systems) and ms 1480 : 2019 (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point HACCP ) from KGS Certification (certified accreditation body under Standard Malaysia). Halagel® is not only certified HALAL by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM) but also by the Indonesia and Thailand Halal authorized body.
Halal means ‘permissible’ in Arabic. Halal food is that which adheres to Islamic law, as defined in the Koran. Muslims are not allowed to eat foods that are not ‘Halal’ and that includes pork or pig meat. It is believed that eating pigs are not hygienic and hence Muslims are not allowed to eat pig meat.
Halal meat is cut using a method called ‘Dhabiha’, in which there is no blood left in the meat before it is eaten. It is also said that Muslims choose to eat the meat that comes only from a Muslim butcher.The Muslim community is also forbidden to consume alcohol under the law of Halal.
The wholesomeness concept of Halal, which covers not only the Shariah requirement, but also the sustainability concept of hygiene, sanitation and safety aspect, makes Halal food readily acceptable by consumers who are concerned about food safety and healthy life style. Realizing that, small entrepreneurs take advantage of business opportunities in the Halal industry to reap the benefits of increasing profits for Halal food areas that have great potential to generate economy.
